I don’t know about you but when I was growing up mum used to brew up delicious hot cocoa on a cold winters day. At some stage clever marketers came up with 'hot chocolate' and added sugar, milk powder and other stuff you don't want. Improve your alertness with Cocoa!
*Have you ever read what’s in that stuff? Sugar is the first ingredient (initial high followed by energy slump), some poor quality cocoa, salt and flavour, maltodextrin (upsets those with Irritable Bowel Syndrome), milk solids, emulsifier (from soy – not good for the thyroid so can make you tired).*Did you know that non Fair Trade cocoa is probably harvested by CHILD SLAVES? How horrendous is that? Help yourselves and them and buy organic as well to avoid the chemicals and sprays.
So does that mean emulsifier is always bad? Emulsifier or soy? What’s your take on Soy Milk? While I’m at it, is the lining on all tins bad? How do I know an OK can from a bad one? Where in Canberra do I source organic grains? And other organic produce? (I’m new here). Thanks a lot Michelle,… Mary
Hi Mary, sorry, just worked out how to reply… Wiffens at Fyshwick Markets has organic grains and some vegetables. The Farmer’s Markets at EPIC and Woden CIT, ChokuBaiJo at Curtin shops is a local farm outlet. Soy milk is generally not healthy. It’s not made from the whole soybean and could be grown in Vietnam (agent orange). Any health benefits for soy relate to the whole fermented bean and only for some conditions. bye for now Michelle
