I don’t know about you but when I was growing up mum used to brew up delicious hot cocoa on a cold winters day. At some stage clever marketers came up with 'hot chocolate' and added sugar, milk powder and other stuff you don't want. Improve your alertness with Cocoa!

*Have you ever read what’s in that stuff?  Sugar is the first ingredient (initial high followed by energy slump), some poor quality cocoa, salt and flavour, maltodextrin (upsets those with Irritable Bowel Syndrome), milk solids, emulsifier (from soy – not good for the thyroid so can make you tired).*Did you know that non Fair Trade cocoa is probably harvested by CHILD SLAVES?  How horrendous is that? Help yourselves and them and buy organic as well to avoid the chemicals and sprays.

Cocoa contains theobromine which helps improve your attention and alertness whilst relieving tiredness and fatigue.  Oh, and did I mention it’s delicious.  I’m sipping on the one in the picture as I type.  It’s a freezing day here in Canberra, so just the ticket to warm me up and keep me focussed.
I do mine with 3/4 hot water and 1/4 hot milk.  I also like some freshly grated nutmeg or cinnamon, and occasionally a slice of orange zest.  Mmm.  Today’s variation is a blend of Hot Cocoa with Dandelion Chai!  So I’m having the bonus Liver detoxification – a pretty good idea after the weekend and a glass of red wine with friends! What’s your favourite Hot Cocoa recipe?
